Christ is Risen!  He is Risen indeed! 

We are celebrating the Easter Season at Christ Church and you are invited to be a part of it!! What does it mean to be Easter People?

At Christ Church it means that Jesus didn’t turn people away, even those rejected by others and we don’t either!  Jesus Christ is central to who we are, a congregation that is striving to be spiritually alive, radically inclusive and justice oriented!

On Easter morning we read in Mark’s Gospel that the women left the empty tomb, “And they said nothing to anyone, for they were very afraid.”  (Mark 16:8)  And fear is something we understand!!

We understand their fear because it is so hard for us to believe that we are the reason Jesus died.

We are so afraid to believe because we know our secrets, the demons, the darkness that is buried so deep within us.

We are so afraid because we know what a difficult time we have loving ourselves-so how could we possibly love our neighbors as ourselves?

These women in our story-they were afraid- but they went to the tomb anyway.

They were afraid, but they venture inside the tomb not knowing what to expect.

They were afraid-and so they said nothing to anyone…

And yet not even their fear can stop Jesus.

Not even their fear can contain the Good News!

Not even their fear can change that fact that God so loved the world God sent his son who chose death on a cross so that we live and not only live, but have eternal life!

And yet He lives!!  Christ is risen!  Not even death can hold Jesus!  Love has conquered all.

So the next time you are struggling to find God in the midst of your suffering, remember-

Not even our fear can stop Jesus.

Not even our fear can contain the Good News no matter how hard we try!

Not even our fear can change the fact that God loves you so much God sent Jesus for you, so that one day you will be in heaven with your Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer.

And that is VERY GOOD NEWS!!
