Congregations
have been
worshipping at our current site since 1901.
The Reformed Church of Latrobe was organized September 3,
1860. The congregation outgrew its first church and built its
second edifice of worship at the corner of Ligonier and St. Clair
Streets.
The Reformed Church merged with the Evangelical and Reformed
Church
and became known as the Reformed E & R Church. In
1961,
we again merged, this time with the Congregational Church, and
became Christ United Church of Christ.
However, Christ Church is not a building. It is a
group of
people bound together by a common faith and a common loyalty to be
the people of God, the body of Christ, in this place.

We
are part of the United Church
of Christ - a community that seeks to respond to the gospel of
Jesus Christ in word and deed. The United Church of Christ
was founded in 1957 as the union of several different Christian
traditions. From the beginning of our history, we have been a
church that believes that Christians do not always have to agree to
be able to live together in communion. Our motto, "That they
all may be one" comes from Jesus' prayer for the unity of the
church found in the gospel of St. John. The UCC is one of the
most diverse Christian churches in the United States with members
of all ages, tongues, and races.
